Hood Scoop?

Hood Scoop?

Postby G_Unit » Tue Oct 14, 2003 12:22 pm

I tried searching. No luck. Well guys I am getting the vehicle fixed, that deer caused 6 G's worth of damage. Of course since insurance is paying, its okay. Well I decided not to go with a carbon hood, just stock, but I am inquiring about a hood scoop. I have seen some toyota camrys with 4-Runner scoops on the net, looking pretty good. Anyways, I am wondering if anyone has any input.

Thanks.

Not my cup of tea, especially if it's not going to be functional.

i would not get a scoop, but i would get a vent. cooling the engine more efficiently is always good.

why would you want the scoop...except for cosmetics? the wrx has a top mounted intercooler so it makes sense to have one...the side vent would be more useful...

true... a scoop would not do anything except to create lift. however a reverse scoop (like a funnel) in front of the intake would be beneficial during dry weather.

a vent behind the radiator will def help alleviate heat from the engine bay.

as for a scoop on the side of the car... that may throw off balance?? who knows. are you thinking of a scoop similar to the MR2 except on the side of the intake?

I think i kinda mentioned i like the CS/RC version (vents). If i go anything to my hood, its going to be the CS conversion - i got some info. from the 5sfe guys celica guys who did the cs conversion..and they have a undercover for their scoops when it rains.
