aftermarket sunroofs are bad news sometimes. They leak alot and most dont open all the way, they just tilt.

At the Subaru dealership that my boyfriend works at, they get aftermarket installs in a lot of their foresters. One happened to leak, and the lady bitched and bitched until they gave her a new car. I, honestly, don't trust aftermarket places, but if you go to one, make sure they are insured!

I asked today at the toyota dealership when I stopped by to pick up some forms I left there yesterday and I asked about the sunroof. They said some dealers will do it, some won't. The warrenty on the actual materials breaking are the same, but sometimes they don't warrenty the job if it leaks or whatever. To get a motorized sliding moon roof, they don't do it, to get a tilt up one, it will run you in the $1500 range or more. The get a manual one that slides back not into the roof but over it would cost you around $3000 and up.

I thought about this very question for a while. I installed a moon roof that slides into the roof all the way in my '02 about a year ago and am very happy with it. Paid 1,200 total in a car shop in Bklyn. Very happy with the decision. And its only leaked once. Of course i forgot and left it open all night and it rained. :(

nah, full power tilt/slide moonroof should cost around $1100 with a 3yr/36K mile warranty.
if anyone wants one that lives in the north jersey area, let me know.

hmmm, sounds like my dealer was giving me some BS, probably didn't want to do the job so they made it extra expensive
