Brand of tires

Brand of tires

Postby Grazi07 » Mon Oct 20, 2003 11:49 am

Looking for advice on tire brand and models. I just need something to get me through the New England winter, since I'll be getting rims in the spring. I could use some guidance towards a reliable and cheap brand/model.
Thanks!

go to tirerack, whalentire, 1010tires.com

look for the UTQG code on the tires, they give out treadwear, traction ratings on tires.

higher UTQG > greater treadlife which also means harder the tire which mean lower the grip etc etc

Kumho's are cool for the price and they look great, but it does not have long tread life, well, all depending on how you drive.

Wait till the Kumho wears down and the tire noise is going to annoy you to death.

I have Toyo T1-S, I drive in rain as if I am driving in dry.

You have two ways to go. If you are going to keep your present rims, why not buy a set of snow tires for this winter. Then when you get your new rims you can buy some high performance summer tires and then swap the snow tires on in the winter. If you are going to sell your present rims in the spring, buy the Dunlop SP Sport A2s. I had them on my previous car and they are a very good all around tire. They also work very well in the snow for an all season tire. Plus it will be easier to sell the rims with some high quality tires that are highly rated instead of some no name piece of crap tires. I buy all my tires at Tire Rack because they have a warehouse in my town, and besides, most tire dealerships charge a whole lot more for the same tire.

Good luck

i say for stock tires..get yokohama avids...they only have a "V" or "H" rating but at lest the treadlife is good pretty quiet and under 1 bill a tire easily.

I've tried yokohoma's, goodyear, michellin, pirellil, general, douglas performance, and toyo's. I think the best bang for the buck to me would be toyo's or pirelli. Lately i'm really liking my yokohoma's.
