Hey everyone,

I am wondering what this BIG WHITE BOX is? It is under the drivers side fender, attached to the air intake...

Looks like if I removed it, I would get ALOT more airflow into the intake, basically double (by comparing the only current opening, to the opening that would be added by doing this.. simple math :s)

What do you guys think?

No its not necessary. Your car may be just a bit more noisier (if at all - most likely not noticable) and the air flow MAY be a little different, but I doubt it would trigger a CEL. some ppl have removed the entire snorkel before the airbox and said they didnt have a CEL.

Thank you very much, didnt think it was necessary.. just for catching water, im assuming?

I forgot that I had basically the same thing in my prelude, only it was incorporerated into the intake (TERRIBLE system, huge improvement when removed) and I never had a problem afterwards.

Ok im rippin this badboy out! Thanks!

thats one of the pre-intake silencers. yeah its also there to catch water or junk that gets sucked in but as long as you keep your filter clean then its no problem. It's necessary to take out if you install a cold air intake.

So does anyone know if it makes any difference whatsoever taking it out?

removing it possibly makes it more noisy....although i would be willing to argue that keeping the white resonator box helps direct cold air from the fender into the engine bay.

that being said, i ripped mine out when i was doing my intake.

Probably makes no difference taking it out. Feel free to do so.
Trust me, I'm a technician.

Mine didn't come wit that.......
But i did take the one out of our 1990 Camry. lol.
It does make it louder.
Now if you have just the OEM intake box and a K&N air filter, you can take the black snorkel behind the driver headlight that goes behind the fuse box, that will make the car intake louder also.
