No transponder, but his alarm now gave him one... but the claimed range for the alarm is 1000 YARDS =x

the new alarm cannot give you a transponder. the transponder is the chip in the oem key.

if you have remote start in your vehicle, you MUST have a transponder bypass unit. (DEI's 555U or 555X) if you don't have that unit but you have remote start then you DON'T have a transponder chip in your oem key.

btw, there are currently 4 name brand 2-way LCD products out there on the market, and they all claim 1000 yards; but i've never really measured.... :P

I acutally measured mine at work.. i work in a 11 store building and my car is parked 2 levels below the first floor. I am on the 8th floor which mean my car is 11 stores from where i am.. I used my remote start before i was leaving to warm up my car and it worked.. my car was on for about 24 mins... before it stoped.. so i am assuming its a good workin range.. plus 1000yards is about 1/4 mile. but i would like to measure.. but assuming this is without any building or struture obstructing its transmission..

but as of right now.. i would recommend this alarm to anyone..

you can also program it to stay on (after remote starting car) as long as you want. if i recall, most remote start systems at most can stay on for about 1 hour, and at the least, up to 5 min.

remember though, remote starting from far away is good to warm up the engine, and cool/heat up the car, but if you accidentally press it, your car will be running until whatever designated program time it's at runs out...

or until you look at your remote and go, "D'OH!" (speaking from experience  )
