Well, if you guys have been watching the news at all, I'm sure you've heard abt the nasty weather up here. Friday night 3 of my friends, all with cars less than 6 months old got into accidents, but thankfully all were safe. Just this afternoon, I almost got clipped on I-84 by some dumb@$$ trying to pull out onto the highway from the breakdown lane. The guy swerved into my lane, just barely missing my rear passenger side, and spun across 3 lanes of traffic , ending in the opposite breakdown lane without hitting anyone. Crazyness! All you SoCal guys have no idea how lucky you are.

One question though, what's the O/D button do exactly, besides killing my gas tank? I'm down almost half a tank in just over 100 miles! I can feel the better traction, but how?

From wat i no the over drive button saves you gas by giving you an extra gear so the engine does not have to rev so high at low speeds. I live in Mass. and i always have my overdrive on and about half way on my tank i get about 150 miles. With all this talk aobut people with 300-400 miles on a tank im starting to wonder if there is really somthing wrong with my car.... or its jsut us in the northeast :x

the overdrive button allows the engine to enter a higher gear (in our case, 4th gear). disengaging the overdrive will keep the engine in or below third gear but at higher RPMs than it would be at in 4th gear. because of the higher rpms, you are in a better part of the torque/hp curve of ur engine, so it will be more responsive when u accelerate. so what you are feeling isnt really better traction, but just better acceleration and responsiveness. also, chances are, if u are cruising on the highway at high speeds, and the overdrive is off, letting go of the accelerator completely will slow your car down much more dramatically than if the overdrive was engaged.

the thing that sucks...about it and i think is funny is that ppl over here complain when they think it's "cold" which to them is like 50's. i always say that right now is defiently not cold ( it only drops to like low 50's high 40's) at night. makes me laugh when i say that we probably have the warmest temperatures in the nation and ppl are still saying "i'm cold" hahaha
