Headlights

Hey guys, New to the board and have just a few quick questions. I have recently been looking into buying a 2001 solara and have test driven the "one". The car before this one was a 99 avalon (gotta stay with toyota!) and its headlights were incredable. I noticed though, on the solara that its headlights were single bulb per side. I do alot of night time driving and good headlights are a big thing for me. So my question: How would you rate the solara's headlights in comaprison to other vehicles? Any comments on what to look out for too would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks guys!

I"m not 100% sure what year they changed the head lights (2001 or 2002) but the older style is a single, dual fillament H4 bulb. The newer style is 2 bulbs, a 9006 for the low beams and a 9005 for the hight beams. My previous car was a 1999 Honda Accord and it had the dual bulb set up and I have to admit that the lighting was better in that car. I know many people have done an HID conversion. That greatly helps the visability and might be something you want to look into. Since visability is big to you, then this mod should be well worth the money (around $300-$500). Hope I helped

if u are getting 02-03, the DRL is using on the high beam insetead of low beam. That save a lot for the 9005 life
The ONE & ONLY Fully Loaded 2006 X Avalon Limited with Body Kit in CA = Special Limited Edition + First 2GR-FE rebored the throttle body (i think...)

I confirm...
99-01 has H4/9006 bulbs (dual filament)
02-03 has what MG says above
This info is also in the FAQs

The quality of the bulbs in H4s are ok, but a lot of us who like to modify, always go for upgrades. Headlights are alwayz an easy thing to do... plug and play

I actually always thought the Solara headlights were really nice, they look very clean. Aside from the fact they get dirty and seem to not be sealed too great, they're cool.
