Remote trunk popper

Remote trunk popper

All,
Does anyone have the part number for the remote trunk popper? I'd like to install this and get the remote key. If I can get this information, I'll put together a DIY.

i am attempting to do the power trunk as well, i already bought universial power trunk kit, ebay sell it too for around $12, some aftermarket alarm has trunk release button, i've read the instruction, and the solenoid that pulls the lock open, and to be install near the trunk lock, and leaving existing mechanism untouch.

i've just added the power trunk to my 99 solara, all done by myself but took me 3 hours, and if i have a chance to do the next one, probably take me no more than 30 minutes. i have the aftermarket alarm relaying me a 30AMP wire (12v +) and i ran wire to the trunk lid, drill 2 hole to mount the solenoid, then connect the solenoid pulling cable to the lock mechanism, works beautifully, now i can open the trunk by key, pulling the latch lever on the driver side, or use the remote. i've took a few snapshot of the installation as well.

You're looking for a DEI 522T. It hooks up to about any alarm, and needs to be manually installed

http://www.directed.com/security/access/oaccess.asp for more info.

That is exactly what I installed. Bought the 522T from CC for about 30 bucks. Easy install, works great. Just takes some planning and adjusting to get the selenoid mounted well. Fits under the cover with no problems.

good luck

If I may make a suggestion, don't use self-tappers or screws to hold the motor in. Use bolts. It's a bitch to get to, but you won't have to worry about it backing out in a month due to vibration.

you do have a socket set, wrench and basic tools right? other than that no.

I agree with the bolt statement above, that is what I did and used a bunch of loctite on it also.

i'm pretty sure it would just act as if you had pulled on the lever next to the driver's seat. there are no springs or any other mechanism to cause the trunk door to fling open.
