Worn steering wheel

My steering wheel is becoming worn down in certain areas. I normally drive with one hand and so the area where I keep my hand is fine (probably from hand oils keeping it conditioned), but the parts where I don't keep my hand has become worn down as if the top layer of the leather is gone. Is anyone else having this problem in their Gen 1?

I personally don't like the covers. If it's the two straight pieces (top and bottom) I would replace them. I'm working on replacing those two pieces with gray color leather. It might not be so easy to make it look good but I will try.

Why bother? Just pull them off (it's not difficult), take it to any upholstry shop (or do it yourself, again, not really hard) and have it re-covered. Then you guys can add any little riceboy colors you want. Flourescent pink, even.

4 years and still looks new. I hand stiched this leather wrap a few days after I got my Solara cause I knew that the white swheel surface was going to get dirty fast. It took 2 hours but I got it done. Its still tight and looks as if the car came with it.
