remote starter

nah, i'm sure all alarms have a main unit, or brain.
to be quite honest, Jon, i'd recommend that Viper you said you were checkin' out earlier. i see alot of customers come into my workplace with an older "no-name" brand and the alarm brain is just fucked it seems. it [alarm unit] just stops workin', or their remote goes bad.

Its more of a liability issue. If you remote start the car with the car in gear, the cars gunna go rollin while you just watch. Most shops dont want blood on thier hands, so they dont touch them, even though it may be doable. Its illegal to install a remote start in a manual trans car in many states.

Ive heard of one shop that has a pretty safe proof workaround. They wire it so that the remote start stops the car too. Basically, it keeps the car on until you get out of the car, then u use the remote to stop it (Its gotta be in neutral for u to get out while the cars running). Unless you did this the time before, their system wont let u remote start it, so in that way, itll never start in gear. But the rest of the shops without the expertise or tools to do something like that will probably just refuse the job, especially if its illegal in that state.
