Recommended Fuel Injection Cleaner?

Recommended Fuel Injection Cleaner?

Hey Solara Gurus,

I'm really new to this, so I need some help. I'm trying to buy a fuel injection cleaner, but I want to know which one is good for Solara. It'd be cool if you share your experience/knowledge.

Thanks!

Buy one of those bottles of fuel injector cleaner that you dump into your gas tank. They sell em at every auto parts store as well as places like Walmart and Target. I used Gumout. Depending on your mileage you may also want to do this http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopic.php?t=9553 as well as change your fuel filter (supposedly good to 100k but I did mine around 65k).

If you buy any can of STP fuel injection cleaner and a bottle of Valvoline throttle bottle cleaner that would do the trick. Got to Pep Boys.

Cleaned!!! One more question.

Postby yamato » Tue Jul 06, 2004 7:07 am

Thanks a lot guys. I cleaned the throttle body over the weekend (and changed the air filter). My friend told me that he can usually take the entire throttle off of the car to clean it, but I couldn't (didn't want to wear out) the bolts. Do you guys usually take them off completely?

I also cleaned '98 Nissan Altima's throttle body, but Altima had it in the middle of the engine vertically and horizontally that it was very difficult to clean. I was happy to know that Toyota designed it nicely for us ;)

^ Sure but that would not be something I would do every 3000 miles though. Maybe like every 24000 miles with routine maintenance. Valvoline is my choice like onefriend already mentioned above. Via Gas and Throttle body cleaner.

I use lucas oil sometimes.....buttttt..i just found this new stuff that works great. Its called sea foam. Its hard to find but this thing is awesome. I found it at Napa auto parts around my area. You can use it in oil, gas, or fuel injection cleaning. I popped it in my vacuum line and there was white smoke everywhere. My buddy who works at an oil express recommended it.
