Could someone suggest to me a good scanner for my Solara? I've been looking around a little, but in truth I'm not quite certain what to look for. I'm not so much looking for a tuning tool as I am a diagnostics/cel tool.

JoeB - Did you ever end up getting the AutoTap? It seems like you would suggest the ScanTool for simple diagnostics.

Yanks0114 - How's the ScanTool holding up for you?

I've been hearding a lot about the CAN interface, but I'm not certain whether or not it's worth it to get a tool that supports it. Obviously it would be nice if I could continue to use the tool in the future which seems to be leading towards CAN, but is it really worth the price difference at this point?

Thanks!

Don't go with CAN BUS interface, Solaras are not built with it yet. By 2007 maybe, but not the current ones. Go with OBDII only. I think someone here told me about getting it for cheap. Search the For Sale section, it should be there.

I always just go to auto zone when i need to pull a code they will let you use it in the parking lot if you leave a ID or you can take it home with a credit card deposit. They range from $120 to like $150 I have only seen one brand its organge, IM not sure what the name is.

this has been asked many times.

if you're just in it for diagnostic purposes, something cheap will do. you dont need anything fancy like the autotap or higher.
