Spongy brakes

Spongy brakes

Postby SleeperSolara » Mon Oct 04, 2004 8:32 am

On Saturday, me, my bro, and my friend went to go wash our cars, and my brother drove my car, i drove my friends' mom Benz, and my friend drove the Benz G55 [as we call it, the G-Wagon].
Anyways my bro said that my brakes felt alittle spongy, so when i droveit home it felt alittle spongy myself.
Then Sunday i bled the rear brakes, [i already had bled the driver left front brake, since i had to fix it].
I got new brake pads.
The brake fluid resrevior is full.
Could it be the brake rotors??
Could it be the brake lines??
If i had to get new rotors which should i get?? Slotted rotors or Drilled rotors or Drilled/Slotted rotors.

it could be that your rotors are warped or maybe just one. that could be the prob. with the spongy feeling cuz i had that prob. as for what kind of rotors you should get, try using the search. there are plenty of threads about rotors.

most likely, your brakes are normal, especially since you recently bled them.

different cars have different brake systems and that brings in different brake feeling.

I hate my brakes too! I always feel like I have to slam them on to get the car to stop! Only had my Solara 2 weeks thought I'd get used to it, but I haven't!

Postby SleeperSolara » Tue Oct 05, 2004 7:53 am

I drive my friends' IS300 and the brakes are really touchy.
I like it like that.
Guess i can have any excuse for gettin' new rotors.

just fyi, rotors aren't the reason why your brakes are spongy.

I did bleed my brakes properly.
I did it by the Haynes repair manual book.
