As for the 12v? Draw from the battery like you would an amplifier.

But I've never heard of an 8v camera... only thing I could think of is some type of resistor.

Probably the same way you'd run an amplifier. In fact, I would get an amp wiring kit and go from there, so if you ever do get an amp you're already wired. Most amp kits have an inline fuse as well - the fuse should be as close to the battery as possible. I ran mine from the battery, around the air filter, to the back of the engine bay and behind that protective fire retardant stuff... then over to the passenger's side. There's a rubber plug there with a bunch of other wires going into it... CAREFULLY use a pocket knife to snip a small hole in this. Slip your wire through the hole and push, it will come out below your glovebox (take off that black plastic cosmetic cover under it so you can see where it's coming from). You can get a y-piece... thingey... that will branch the wire off into two terminals... put this under the glove box area. Since you'll need power regardless for the camera, run the other wire back to the trunk (pull the carpeting up).

If you think you'd put a sub in, let me know about how much power it'd run and I can give you an idea of what to run for wiring.

I've got an extra line coming straight from the battery that I wire all my acessories up to, including my CD player.
Schucks/Kragens/Checkers has inline fuse wires which is what I used. I don't know how you're gonna find 8 volts anywhere in the car. It has to be 8 volts DC? Why not 12?

Your camera runs off a 9V so you can use this at the 9.0 v setting, it has plenty of amps to power it also.

Radio Hack proly has what you need also. Tell them you need a 12v to 9v DC:DC power supply.
