removing wind blocker

i was wondering how hard would it be to remove a wind blocker on the top of the car. it sits in front of the sunroof and i think it looks stupid. i will take a pic tomorrow of it but it looks like it is just held in by 2 screws and some adhesive stuff. do u all think it would be faded underneath or not? also wat could i use to take off the adhesive stuff. thnks

well if its held in by two screws then ur left with two holes, which is no good. if you ever drive with the sunroof open, the windbreaker is key, plus i think they look really cool. adhesive can be removed with 'goo gone'. got mine in home depot for 2 bucks

I took that off my car too. When I bought the car new I ordered it on there because every other car with a moon roof I've had makes a terrible thudding noise when it's open. I didn't really like it on their but was willing to live with it for the functionality. One day, I decided to try without it and it didn't make any noise at all. All you have to do is loosen those screws and it comes right off. Mine wasn't "stuck" on at all. Mine left a little bit of a mark that mostly went away over a few months in the summer of sun and waxing. It was taken off after about 3.5 years. -JoeB

Brad, you might be dissappointed if this will be your day's project. Literally, all you do is, open the moon roof, loosen up those screws (the brackets will come off) and lift it off there. It's about a 3 minute job. The rest of the day can be used for something better. :wink:

Yep definitly an easy job. I thought it was screwed into the car too, and then Dave (you guys might know him as DavPak), helped me take it off in a few seconds in the middle of a parkinglot with nothing but a screwdriver. Strangly, I think it makes less noise without the deflector on.

well guys i took off the wind blocker. took me about 2 min. it still has a slight resude on it but im gonna clay tht part to make it all come off. thnks guys for ur help. heres a pic

nope. it had brackets for the screws so nothing was drilled into the car.

Most cars (incuding my wife's Lexus RX300) make a terrible thudding noise at certain speeds with the moon roof open due to air turbulence. The Solara doesn't and I've tested lots of speeds. :wink:

the bar piece that pops up a bit when the roof is open starts to shudder on mine around 120km/h, or 75mph

Well to each his own but, mine was painted to match the car at delivery and I love it. I did take it off once and the wife said have you lost your D*** mind, put that thing back on! It's on today.
