the grill as is won't keep out rain/sand or dust. just look out for the boulders.

omfg i cant belive he doesnt get boulders.

put it this way, unless your going off roading, or bird hunting, nothings going to get in tehre to do major damage. just watch out for 3' sections of road flying at you and dodge them, youll be fine.

Go with the custom mesh grill. It changes the whole appearance of your car. If you think you can not do it, get someone who can. Its money well spent.
