How many of you have dings on the side of your Solara? Why does our car ding so easy?

I had this guy park right next to me today and open the door so that it touched my driver side door. He left, I checked my door and he had dinged it with no effort. Dang thin sheet metal. :x

Majority of my door dings are on the passenger side.

Ever notice when someone gets out of their car the open door goes up a bit? Even if they don't bang your car their door will leave a mark if it rides up on yours.

I don't have enough spare cars to leave the good one at home everytime so I always park WAY OUT THERE away from everyone. Also try to get an end spot and crowd the line away from the next car. Anything but door dings!

I do the same thing, but a 20 minute walk to the mall from my car in 20 degree weather sucks. About the dings, I don't have any... but I do have a couple nice long scratches... almost like I got keyed a few times... sigh

Door dings are definitely one of my pet peeves. I don't notice the small dents in the side of my car as much as the small chips in the paint. I try to be really careful about where I park, but sometimes you're just forced to park in a tight spot. Mostly, people just seem to be oblivious to the consequences of just slinging their doors open. My opinion is that old people and children are the worst.

Not a bad theory but you have to meet your insurance deductiable plus an aftermarket paint job is never as good as factory. In the factory they bake the paint on, not spray it on. I doubt you can get your insurance to pay for a $3000 paint job
