Acceleration

Postby SLOW-ARA » Mon Aug 08, 2005 5:50 pm

whats up people i am just curious about the acceleration of the solara... first of all i have been doing 0-60 test and am getting like 10 seconds maybe 9.5 whatever.... secondly, when on the highway say, going around 65 give or take if you decide to put the pedal all the way down (floor it) does it hesitate/engine thinking about going then go or is it suppose to be a quick response.... I have a v6 sle auto(sadly) stock as of now waiting for my K&N drop in to get here hoping this might help a LITTLE... im just wondering if my car should be quicker, i mean 10 second 0-60 is kinda sad... not kinda IS sad! thanks

I highly doubt its 9.5 or 10 seconds going to 0-60 in a V6. Its about 7.5 or a little higher I believe, I don't remember the actually numbers. 9.5-10 are usually a I4 times. And yes toyotas are known to hesitate on acceleration.....its been a common problems for years. So you are not the only one that's having this problem. If you want to go faster supercharge it! Or slap on some basic bolt ons, a K&N drop in filter is not gonna increase power by much maybe 1 or 2 HP. Your better off Creating a CAI or buying a Injen CAI. At least you'll be able to feel the power and get maybe 5-7 HP out of that. Check out my intake:

I got a short ram Injen and custom extended myself.

All i know is my 1st gear is weak until it gets over 4k, probably due to the cat-back. 2nd gear pulls like a champ.

Well I don't know what my exact 0-60 is, but on my track slip I hit the 1/8 in 10.485@68.93 mph. I'm an auto SLE V6 W/ Injen SRI which doens't do that much. So I dunno exactly where it is that I hit 60.

I dunno if that helps. BradOwens had one of those things you connect to your car that tells you all that fun stuff.

hestitation because it is an automatic. most of automatic car does that. it is like its asking you "oh you floored it...are you sure, are your sure? are you sure? here you go......."

thats why manual car can beat auto easily.

my cousin works at toyota.... he said most toyota have problems with the throttle body causing slow accleration.... so try to clean out your throttle body.... and sounds like your trans might be going bad if it takes that long to pick up..... second 60 refers to 60' feet at the track not 0-60mph....

My friend has a computer to calculate the 0-60 times and my car with nothing done and also 100,000 miles is still getting around 7.3 - 8 seconds.
