Blueish White smoke at start up...

Postby 2001SoLa » Tue Aug 16, 2005 7:09 pm

This only happens at the start up of the car. Also is has a really wierd smell....Almost like an electric burning smell????? the car runs Perfect!!!! Other then the smoking at start up. it goes away almost right away after the start up. This only happens if the car sit for more then 3-4 hours. Does any one have a idea what this mite be? Almost forgot it is a 4 banger as well. Thanks in advance!!!!

I have a TINY amount of white smoke at startup sometimes, only if the car sits for a fewdays usually, dealer said it's normal.

The smell could be unrelated but serious, electric smells are never good, especially if smellable from inside the car, definitly get it diagnosed and ask about the smoke at the same time if it seems related.

white smoke might means you are leaking some coolant while black smoke means you are leaking oil. check your coolant level if it is drop over time, if so, thats means your headgasket is going out.

Black smoke also means you are running fat.

I THOUGHT OIL BURNING WAS BLUEISH WHITE?

if you are burning antifreeze there is a dangerous but easy way to tell.

get a tast of the smoke in the air..if it is sweet you are burning antifreeze. just dont breath it in or swallow it!!!!!!

Blue smoke is a typical sign for burning oil. But Yanks said that already so I wasn't going to reiterate it.

I believe Antifreeze smokes white...I remember from when my water pump blew.
