parking/running light relay blown?

parking/running light relay blown?

Postby hari-bhari » Sun Dec 25, 2005 10:03 am

im not sure if you guys remember my old post about installing my remote starter, but here is a breif recap. when installing the starter, i think i somehow blew the relay/fuse for the parking/running lights. i have checked every fuse under the engine and in the kick panel, and they are all intact. when i use the headlight lever and switch it to the middle notch, neither my interior lights nor my parking lights turn on. if i put it on the upper notch for headlights, my headlights turn on but my interior and parking lights still do not. however, if i leave the lever in the off position, and let the auto sensor detect that it is dark outside, my headlights, parking lights, and interior lights all turn on as expected. my turn signals and my hazard lights work as expected in both cases. my aftermarket remote starter is hooked up to the hazard lights, not the parking lights, and they light up correctly when i lock or unlock the car.

so basically, i think i have blown the relay or connection between the headlights lever and the parking lights themselves. does anyone know how i can get to this or fix it.

i hope my explanation was clear and thanks for your help

You can go to your local Toyota dealer and ask them to print you out the map to the relays behind the fuse panel, helped me find the window relays.
