Front Seat Wobble

Front Seat Wobble

Postby DDH1313 » Thu Jan 05, 2006 10:34 am

First off, I am relatively sure that this topic has been addressed however I was unable to find it in a search.

This is now my second 1999 V6 SLE after the first one had an unfortunate run in with a somewhat unskilled driver. Anyhow, to the point. My first Solara had a wobble in the front drivers seat (power seat) from front to back. It was in no way serious, maybe 1/8" in travel at the most but definently noticeable and somewhat anoying. Now my second car has the exact same condition.

Does anyone know if there has been a recall or TSB..etc for this problem? The reason that I ask is because the car is with the dealer as I am writing this and they are treating it as though it will be a billed repair.

Thanks,

Derek

Unfortunately recalls are only for safety not annoying quirks. No TSB has been issued as far as I know. Did you check to see if any seat bolts are loose? Could just be wear and tear. I'd hit the junk yard and get one used. Those things are probably big bucks

this annoys the hell out of me too. i gotta tear into that seat sometime and tighten every bolt. i can make it move by just pushing it but i have no idea where to begin looking for mechanical "failure". and dont get me started on my passenger seat....

do you guys drive in a reclined position? Cause I noticed that when I drive upright, it's not an issue.

my car does that and my sisters 1.5 does it as well she braught it to the dealership and they pulled the seat out of the car to show her why they cant fix it, its just play in the tracks for the seat, they basically just told her to get used to it. my dads camry does the same thing also...

i have the same thing, its a common problem with the solaras that cannot be fixed easily. The entire seat mounting brackets need to be replaced for this and will eventually do it again so sorry guys, from what I hear, this is a problem we have to live with.

HaHa... dealer says $1600 for a new seat track/rail system.

Thanks for all the replies. It certainly sounds like a common problem that will have to be lived with. I guess I would much rather this than a bad air compressor, tranny...etc.... had it been some other brand of vehicle.

No big deal.

Yeah, I've just gotten used to it, especially when the dealership tightened all the bolts (although it's not as bad as it was beforehand).
