brake squeak after new pad

brake squeak after new pad

Hi,

I just installed new OEM pads (front and rear) on my car. Whenever I brake driver side squeaks 80% of the time. The rotors has been resurfaced, I used high-temp silicone on the pad and the shim. I just cant' figure out what is causing this squeaking sound. Any help would be apperciated.

Its normal while the new pads take the shape of the rotor.

Squeaking should go away by 500 miles or so.

That is what I was thinking at first when I got it installed, but I have about 800 miles already.

make sure that the shield that go's around the rotor is not to close the rotor, if so bent it away from it.

got the same problem. mine arent oem, though they are ceramic. i tried high temp grease, anti-sieze, disc brake quiet (rubbery goop), shims on, shims off - all these "remedys" worked for about 800 miles, but the squeal always came back.

discs are solid brembos and are rather new. i am tired of working on them without any appreciable results so i will probably get a pro to resurface the rotors and install oem pads.

I know this may sound stupid, but did you guys apply a lot of the silicone thingy? My friend like literally lavished the back of the pad with it and I've had no problems.

Edit: Actually, remembering back to the time when I had itinstalled, my friend had put soooo much that it was goo-ing out of the brakes for awhile.

Tried it all. High temp grease, anti-sieze, the blue disc brake quiet, the red stuff - the vibration deadening properties go away after a few hundred miles.

Mine squeek too...nonOEM and over 1k on them. I put a ton of anti-squeek on and the squeel is less dramatic — still there though.

My suggestion is the same as the others, the grease is what stops the squeaking. I installed the breaks on my car and never had any squaking and this was with some crappy 3rd party grease from autozone.

Apply the grease to the whole back side of the brake pad (the side that the piston pushes against).
