02 SE v-6 Need More Legroom

Postby thook » Sat Oct 14, 2006 10:59 pm

I just bought a nice 02 se v-6 with 35000 miles and I really like the car, I just need more legroom (6 footer). Can you remove the 1st stop from the frame rails that the power seat rides on without any negative consequences? Any other ideas for more legroom? Thanks.

Yeah 6' tall. I guess I have long legs, because it is not a good fit for me now. Height is not the best indicator of leg length. My younger brother is a gorilla, he is 6' 4" and has a 30 inch inseam, whereas I am 6' and 34 inch inseam. I would like to move the bracket back a couple of inches, but the bend in the front makes that difficult. If you have any ideas let me know. Thanks.

1. Get necessary tools
2. Unplug any electrical plugs from front seat
3. Remove the front seat
4. Enjoy driving from the rear seat

Just kidding!!!! very unsafe

Maybe you have coins or other debris jammed up in your seat's track...
I am 6' with a 34" inseam also, and I can get my seat so far back that driving becomes a bit difficult. In fact, I was shocked to see a 6 footer mentioning that these cars need more legroom... now, my Protege is very cramped and I wish that seat would go back more, my left leg can never relax in that little car.

Anyway, you better check your seat tracks and make sure they aren't jammed up with coins or something.

I'll try to check later, but I think my seat moves back and forth at least a foot. My '02 QX4 had coins in the track, I cleared them out and everything was fine.

Heh, that's one thing I hated about my SenCrap (aside from it standing for Shiiiit, Eh? No True Reliability Available) with the seat all the way back, whereas I have to even move my seat forward about 1 1/2" in the Solara. Too bad I have to move the seat up even further when I drive stick (company car).

I'm 6'4" with a 36" inseem. My car fits me perfectly which is why i bought it. The only time it gets snug is when i'm driving for 3+ hours to go visit family.

I've heard people complaining like this before about a car but it's because they drive like a "thug" (er whatever) with the seat reclined way far back (and then they wind up sitting almost straight up).

Ummm would this be "user error"?
