Battery Replacement

Battery Replacement

Postby LatinDragonXJC » Mon Nov 27, 2006 12:22 pm

Hey guys, just wanted to ask you guys..... Its time for me to change my battery (cuz it keeps loosing charge and I'm tired of getting jump started). And I wanted to know what types of batteries do you recommend? And how much do they usually cost? I've been researching and I'm not sure about CCA and RC for the Solara.

From the searches I've done on here, I see that Optima is a favorite, how much do those usually cost?

Optimas are over kill unless your running a sound system, cost is around 100+

Interstate battery cost like 50-60 bucks and IMO better than stock

^^ Werd

Another thing to check is your alternator, which if it isn't charging properly, that may be your culprit.

Thanks for the replies, I'm guessing its the battery. I usually notice small things like the lights dimming when I lower my window, but I'll check that again.

I guess my question now will be, have any of you gotten your alternator replaced? Was it costly?

Personally I thought all cars did that when you lower the windows, it would drag a bit from the interior lighting but not much.

oh yeah? I tried doing that my local Pep Boys, they told me they can test the battery for free if I bring it to the counter.........but charge me 21 bucks if its in my car, along with the alternator. I'ma go check AutoZone then, its usually my last choice, cuz of the horrible customer service. Thanks.

recently my diehard gold battery doesn't hold charge, i've already changed the battery that came with the car 4 years ago, and instead of replacing the battery, i bought a battery charger/reconditioner from walmart for $60, reconditioned it two times, now the battery holds charge again. i am not sure if that is a good long term solution, but so far, car still starts fine.

try tricklecharging

and it's the alternator when you run a motor/regulator off the battery since the drain on the battery considerable while it is in use

I'm doing this right now. I got it at 10amp for the next 2 hours before I go to class. I tried going to Autozone to get it checked out, I called beforehand, they told me it was free and to bring my car in. Once I'm there, they say , they don't do that (basically too lazy to come outside), I was right about the horrible customer service. Thanks for the replies. Hope charging it works.
