Auto HVAC interchanged with Manual HVAC

Auto HVAC interchanged with Manual HVAC

I am really surprised that no one apparently has tried to determine whether the auto HVAC will interchange with the manual especially because so many of you opted for the SE rather than the SLE. Here is a picture of the SLE rear female power connection with the car power cables.

Look at the number of pin that are connected to the power cables. I would think they would be the same as the manual rear female power connection. I can't believe that Toyota would make two separate and different cables. I also assume that the manual HVAC does all the same things as the auto.
Is the manual HVAC the same size and shape as the auto? If it is, then IMO they should be interchangeable.

Is it doable, Surely it is. But for the price of a unit + work (i'm guessing the numbers here) - but for 300-400 I'd rather get a some wheels than auto climate control.

Jai_jai_Binks I purchased a auto HVAC for $50.00 when I changed the color of the lights. Log onto car-part.com and you will find many dealers with a wide variation of prices. Go for it.

There are no sensors that I am aware of as far as the HVAC unit is concerned. Its strictly plug and play. Take out four screws and unplug the connectors from the back and you are holding the HVAC in your hand.

The auto climate has a cabin sensor, and a sensor under the key slot .

Didn't know about the sensor under the key slot, but you are certainly correct on the other sensor. It's located next to the headlight sensor on the dash.

Campfire, if you have the SLE, then you should surely see the sensor on the dash. Without it, I doubt the automatic climate control would work well...
