might also be something dumb like a loose gas cap. check that, it might solve your problem (in a day or so anyway).

Go to AutoZone and get the OBD II to read the error code.

Get the code read or reset the car by disconnecting the negative lead to the battery for like 15 minutes

It's usually emissions system related. Most likely a faulty O2 sensor, EGR equipment or something as simple as the loose gas cap like aformentioned. As for resetting the ECU, you disconnect the positive terminal for 5 mins. Or if you don't want to lose your time settings, remove the EFI fuse for 5 mins then replace. More than likely the code will pop back up. It would be best to get the code read in any case.

Yeah...Checkers/Kragen/Schucks should have it. Some places don't check that for free anymore though...so it's probably best to call around.

You sure its the positive terminal? I always thought it was the negative lead, and on my K & N filter it said to remove the negative lead to reset the ECU

If I wasn't sure, I wouldn't be making the correction. ;)

When you think about it, removing either terminal will reset the ECU

UPDATE:

it's the o2 sensor that is bad. they might be able to replace it under my manufacturer's warranty pending on when the ACTUAL date it was released from the factory. (damn Hertz said the car was released in april 2000, but records show it may have been released in march 2000, making today JUST out of the warranty!)

replacing one is under two bills. no prob. grrrrr :evilbat: :evilbat: :evilbat: :evilbat:

my next question is:

will it blow again if i install the s/c with 2.7 pulley even if i tune it correctly with safc II?

One advantage to the Safc II is that it has a knocking monitor. What exactly causes a knock sensor to blow?

Excessive premature pinging/knocking.
