Brakes on a 99

My break pedal has been getting a little close to the floor. When i was taking auto class my instructor told me that to reset them i just have to keep engaging the hand brake on caliper breaks, and reverse and stop on drum breaks. Will this work on our solaras?

It might, that is a way self-adjusters work. You may want to also make sure that you don't have anything else going on, as in check you pads, shoes and wheel cylinders. Heck while you’re checking you shoes and wheel cylinders, make sure your adjusters are clean and moving, then adjust the brakes up manually .
