In late November I upgraded my clutch & flywheel and although more power was being put to the ground, I was running lean. Now months later, I have to buy a new motor because I blew mine. Adam won't let me lie when I say as 1 quart of oil goes it, 1/2 goes out the intake and the rest gets burned. Its a very sad site to see your motor slowly go but I suppose thats what I get for not listening.

Lesson: Dont run your car lean or the motor will fry.

your sc'ed aren u, if so what psi boost were u running, i remember i talked to u about running at least 94 octane, so what happened, how were u running lean, did u ever dyno the car..........

Car was dyno'ed on slipping clutch @ 6PSI with Supra injectors.

New clutch installed, more power, ran lean.

ya but what fuel was he running, i dynoed my lara at 6psi and my clutch was slipping some to, i replaced it & never dynoed until i went 7 psi, and it didnt blow up.........

93. The engine already had a LOT more wear then normal, as it;s a NYC driven car with 100k miles. So it;s constant stop/go traffic over that 100k miles.

So in all honestly, the conditions the car is driven, the "actual" wear on the engine was more like 150-200k

adam my black lara has 160k on it, and thats la driving conditions, the 93 octane killed it, nothing else, you cant run big boost on these engines without at least 94 octane, and i told tyrone this, i wish he would have listened to me, that car would still be running..........

Don;t have 94 here, lol. Every station has 93 though. I'm running 6PSI on maxed injectors and beat the crap out of my car on 93.

Does a manual tranny make a diff on that?

ya i think so, the auto makes the engine run alot harder, as in bigger gears so its lugging the engine, as for fuel i told him about xylene and marvel mystery oil, 2 gallons xylene, 8oz oil, 14 gallons gas, so the info was given to tyrone, some people just wont listen, tis a shame...........

I would bet that with all the stop and go traffic for 100k+ miles,
his engine probably had carbon build up on the pistons. Which
can cause an increase in compression ratio and exaggerate
the effects of running lower octane. A lot of negative factors
helped kill that engine I'm sure.

no i live in los angelos, worst traffic around, and in the summer we see 100 degree weather alot, so no its not ny traffic, bad fuel choices is what blew that engine up............

You're another person I should've listened to Frank but my procrastination has lead me to where I'm at now (a blown motor) but I learned from my mistake and don't plan on making anymore. I'm already trying to do things the 100% right way (ie. joined the group buy for the meth kit). So for this next time around my meth kit should allow me to run 93 octane safely. Am I correct when I make this assumption?

tyrone this is what i would do, get the meth kit, & run the xylene, hers the chart.
Single Component Octane Booster Calculator:


17 gallons of 93 Octane mixed with

1 gallons of Xylene

will produce 18 gallons of 94.3333 Octane fuel mixture
so 1 gallon & 4 oz of the oil will work well...........

I need to see if any stations in his area have 94.....I know there is a place with race gas, but no idea on 94.
