Re-program keyless entry?

Re-program keyless entry?

Postby BrianS » Fri Jan 09, 2004 7:36 am

Does anyone know how to reprogram the factory keyless entry so that both doors unlock the first time you hit the unlock button on the key fob?

I have a 03 Tacoma and I found instructions for it and it is so nice to not have to hit the button twice and for it to beep 4 times! My g/f has a 2001 Solara SLE and she wants me to re-program hers the same way. I tried the same instructions that I used and they didn't work.

Has anyone done this?

Thanks
BrianS

i've seen instructions to reprogram the key fob to be for a car, but haven't heard of a way to reprogram it to do what you just said (for the Solara, anyhow)

Good question. There must be an easy way to do it because my car has an aftermarket remote start/entry fob that disarms the car alarm and does both doors with one touch of the button. Maybe you could ask a shop that installs remote car starters...

The keyless entry/alarm system for my Tacoma is the VIP RS3200. I thought that all Toyota's used the same system. Does anyone know which system the Solara uses? That might give me some clue on what to look for.

Thanks
