TRD Supercharger....

Anyone have one of these installed on their car or know of anyone who does. Was curious if it is worth getting one. How much horsepower does it give?

There are a few members here that have the TRD supercharger installed. If you use the search function it will give you some information on it.

But if you wanted to see pictures i beleive you can look at the picture gallery and see some pics.

Horsepower will depend on what kinda of mods you have. its never a exact number. But the HP gain is between 10 to 15 for most part with the typical mods. But like i said.. its diff on every car.

Wheel HP (now refered to as WHP) is about 150 stock

S/C WHP is about 200 I believe, maybe a little more

Other mods (exhaust, intake, pulley upgrade, injector/fuel pump upgrade, S-AFC (fuel control) upgrade) will boost the hp. A few people are running 250-300 WHP =]
1GR-FE ftw!

Whether it's worth it is pretty subjective. The supercharger makes a noticeable difference, but it won't turn your car into a beast. If you really want more meaningful power, you will need to get the additional modifications mentioned in an earlier post.

What are you looking for? That will make it easier to answer your question of whether it's worth it.

if our cars are 200 crank hp, they should be more than 150 wheel hp. Im not sure what the whole drivetrain hp loss is but it cant be 50hp.

Totally depends on which kind of dyno you use... I think about 20% drivetrain loss is typical, so 150 is kinda low, but not very. figure 150 - 165 depending which dyno you use.

Refer to this post http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopic.php?t=6966 . Manual trannys lose only about 11-14 % loss and autos lose about 16-20%.

Here is a Dyno sheet from when I had a blown knock sensor. My car had SC, injen intake, greddy exhaust, SACF and it only made 190HP.
I have another dyno slip at 210 but this is the only one I have on my comp cause my scaners broke. BTW My car is a 99 auto

Here are my dynographs. I put down 221 FWHP and 201 FWTQ on both runs.

My car is an automatic 2000 Camry XLE V6

I have TRD SC @ 5 pounds, injen intake, full catback and denso ik20's.

if you have some extra cash set aside, then go for it. other than the cool wheezing from the s/c and the ability to see a few positive boost numbers on a little gauge, there is no other point. ;)

236whp, two oh something on trq.

Yep, just like everyone said...the SEARCH button is always your friend  But IMO the Supercharger was a AWESOME upgrade for me. Even with the stock pulley's you can still notice a big difference. Plus with that sale that TRD had, you couldn't go wrong with the price ya know 8)

jay9170:

if you got an A/T, then i'd suggest you look into at least doing a little more upgrades to compliment the SC, as you'll prolly not be as impressed. for starters, you can at least upgrade the pulley to a 2.75 (6 lbs pulley) which is only like 90 bucks at http://www.pulleyboys.com.

if you got a M/T then you'll prolly be satisfied with just the SC upgrade. other additional upgrades will be like icing on the cake. depends on how much speed you wanna add.

Thanks for all the replys. The smaller the pulley the more RPM's it will produce so is it best to get the smallest pulley here which would be a 2.0" pulley?
