suspension recomendations

Hey guys,
My 99 Solara with 93k miles is 100% stock. The suspension is now in dire need of replacement and I was thinking I might like to upgrade it... stiffen it up/lower it. I'm not looking for a ricey look or any of that crap - I just want to feel some handling improvement. Has anyone had any luck picking up the parts and having a dealership install them? I'm thinking I'd be better off going to a performance shop. I'd do it myself if I had a garage to do it in and if my 5.0 was reliable enough to be the driver for a while.

Thanks ahead of time!

hmmm... 15 views no replies.
Just to clarify, I meant no disrespect with the "ricey" comment. Honestly, a lot of the cars on this forum look really sharp with the body kits and whatnot. When I said I'm trying to avoid the ricey look (maybe not the greatest choice of words) I meant that I don't want to be attracting any unecessary attention from the police if ya know what I mean.

Anyways, no offense intended. Looking forward to some suspension suggestions! It's looking like a lot of people like the tein springs and tokico struts/shocks. If I'm going to do this I really want to make srue I get it right so if there are actual full kits that would be great and otherwise proper combinations would be good to know.

Thanks! Kevin

Seems you answered your own question. Generally Eibach or Tein w/ Tokico Struts is the best combo for performance. Intrax offers a lower drop, but not as much for performance handling. JIC and Tein make for coilover systems that replace the OE Spring/Strut and both are in good use. Check the search button for more information, as suspension setups have been heavily discussed (Probably the real reason for the lack of responses.)
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

your best and only bet for struts are tokico.

for springs, you have a little bit more of a selection:

Eibach
H&R
Tein

i have been on the eibach/tokico setup before moving to coilovers and i had no problem whatsoever.

Thanks for the responses guys. Do I need to worry about getting a certain set of struts/shocks to match the spring rate of these lowering springs?

Anybody have any suggestions as to where to get these parts for the best deal?

Thanks again.

Ive got the Eibach Tokico set up. I never rode in a car with stiff struts, but once you get used to it, its fine. I now wish I got Tein's because I want a little more of a drop, but i scrape often anyway so I'm cool with the Eibachs.

Don't worry flash. After a lip kit it will look even lower.

Vogtland springs are great! I can't imagine going back to stock now that I have experienced Tokico shocks!

Can I put the Tein springs on the TRD Bilstein struts? I'd like to change my springs out soon too. Lataz.

struts are shocks with brackets.

shocks slips into a control arm. (or so that i have seen in civics and accords)
