I don't have pins on my CF hood at all because they are ugly. However, I made a braket under the hood to hold it.

I've had the Vis CF hood for more than 5 months now, and occasionally driving it for 90 to 100 mph, and so far I've not had any trouble at all.

I guess I'm lucky.

If you are using the VIS carbon fiber hood. You are not Suppose to leave the little shocks that hold up the hood. Those things put too much pressure on the hood when closed. Im getting the VIS carbon fiber hood but im going to put hood pins just to be safe.. or i mite get the latch reinforced by a shop...

In addition to the winshield getting smashed, it left 2 very small dents in the roof. I didn't have hood pins because I had to slam my hood to get it to close. There would be no way to slam the hood over pins. I could have completely removed the factory latch but I don't like how hoods shake around when you do that. -JoeB

CF hood

Postby solrchrgd » Tue Apr 27, 2004 3:00 pm

I have had a CF hood for a few years now but just recently put in hood pins. I really don't like the look of the hood pins but i would rather be SAFE than sorry.

Since my Solara is Twlight Blue you really can't tell it has a CF hood from a distance. I had the edges painted so it blends in better with the rest of the car. Just my opinion....

Check my cardomain site for pics of the hood pins
