Why no VVT-i ?

I have always thought the Solara was a great looking luxury-sporty car that was utra quiet, smooth and good acceleration at wide open throttle.
I always wondered why it never received the vvt-i upgrade for the 3.0 V6.
I've driven both engines and I can say the 3.0vvt-i has considerably more power at any rpm.
The RX300 had vvt-i in 1999 and the Sienna got it in 2001.
I think vvt-i would have made the Solara even that much better.
