I currently have sets of 225 45 x 17 on my Solara. When I look from the back, tires width look too narrow on a big car like ours in my opinion. How wide of a tire size can we go up to without any major modifications? It looks really musculine when I look at those BMWs with sets of 255 on it.

Hey solarat what kind of offset do you have and for that matter springs/ struts? Ive got 235's and on the highway when i hit a big enough bump it will make a scraping sound only from the right front. Any ideas?

+38 offset
235/40/18
18x7 rim
Springs: Vogtland
Struts: Tokico

Probably on that side the fender well is dipped lower then the other side. OR your strut is going out on that side. Try to look for any marks of were its scraping and compare it to the other side.

Hey guys, thanks for for your time of replying. BTW, if I do decide to go for wider sets than 235. What kind of modification do I need?

Spacers, and you will thus stick the wheels outside the side of the car's body. I think +3 is allowable for maintaining performance of the vehicle as intended, but after that it is custom work that cannot be guaranteed to be good for your car. Hope you have a good shop to work on this, its not as easy as it seems.

you can fit 19x8.5 on solaras. but you have to roll back the fenders and get a damper coilover suspension.

I heard of that terms "roll back the fenders" alot, but how do they actually do it? And does the rim be sticking out the body alittle if using 19 x 8.5? And what size of tires can be fit on that size of rims? I just want to get more better understanding in this topic. Thanks in advance!

225 or 235 can fit on those. depending on offset.

-If they rub the strut then you need spacers.

-Rolling back fenders is to clear away the part were the tire rubs the fender. You could cut or push them away (Rolling).

How would your turning radius be with 235? If you went 245 you probably couldn't make a good u-turn.
