Flip can you tell us exactly what kind of lights and paint you got. My solara is red and I think it would match perfectly. You did a really good job. did the paint work for the ac controls and stuff to?

Thanks for all your help.

Doesn't the paint dim the light bulb. Can you buy 194's in color?

The paint is for the AC control unit which uses small bulbs (I believe 2721) that do not come in color. The 194s come in color for the speedo

For the ignition light you will have to take a flat head screw driver and pop out the black ring around it. THen the small panel around the ignition is a simple pop out with a flat head as well from there the bulb is behind the clear ring somewhere, remove the green condom and wa la paint away, it took me less than 5 minutes to do. As for the AT shift gate, there is also one bulb. Pop up the black surrond, its a clip as well, I think there are two bolts you need to remove that hold the shift gate down, the bulb is behind the R or N, I can't remember, it was a b*tch getting it out cause the wire for the bulb was short so it took me forever to get that one out and back on... Just take your time and feel around.

As for what kind of paint, I used tile, glass and ceramic paint. I got it from a hobby store. Yes painting your bulbs does decrease light output but with hobby glass paint in thin coats you won't notice the diff. The glass paint I used looks exactly the same as the red bulbs I bought (light output wise) the paint may seem to not allow any light to go through, but it does... good luck to everyone.

I did the ignition light tonight, soo easy. Used a blue sharpie to color in the bulb and part of the clear plastic ring surrounding the bulb so the light is colored deep enough. The ignition light glows the same color as my under dash lights now. I wont be doing anything else lighting-wise until i get my LCD headunit. I like how its shaping up so far, totally blue interior when the engine is off, but turn the key and everything turns red!

P.S. - Is the shift gate light a 194?

Ok, could someone put together ALL of the bulb specifications to change every single thing that is green in the dash to a different color? (speedo, A/C, ignition, and everything else?) Just so I don't buy any bulbs I don't need to. It seems everything about the dash lights is touched on little by little. I just need a quick recap on all of the bulbs needed, or needed to be painted and not changed. Thanks!
