It sounds like he is refering to the gear selector for an automatic transmission.

It not actually all that bad of an idea if you have an aftermarket shifter. I have one of the levoc shifters, and it sits too high because the metal rod is very tall (as is the oem shifter).

If you needed to put back OEM you could probally get an extension welded on. It should cost that much

it really wouldnt be worht it soldering expecially if the thing has a possiblilty of brekaing into 2 then yor really screwed so just get the ebst of what you can get becasue odds are that if you get something really nice like a whole new unit then it will last a lot longer and do its jobs :D just my opinion ~luke
