haha, people look so stupid when they do that
you can just see their eyes sticking up over the steering wheel to see the road, and they think they look cool

I found the lumbar support bar on the side of the seat and it was already on for max support, or maybe just short of it, so I tightened it in that direction further, and it seemed to help a little bit, but maybe it's just my body type. I pushed the seat more upright too. The part that seems to bother me is just above where the lumbar support stops...

my Solara has leather. i think it's more about the way the seat is designed rather than what it's covered with.

Yeah...probably more so with the padding used with the cloth and leather versions. I've noticed that the cloth seats aren't as comfortable as the leather ones in long distance driving.

Just watch the beginning sequence of Cheech Marin's "Born In East LA," and there'll be some vatos that are low-ridin'.

I have cloth on my Solara and yeah it's really uncomfortable. I think the texture of the cloth is what makes you uncomfortable because you cant make tiny adjustment to your body in order to get that right comfort. I've driven a leather Solara too and it felt way better than my seats. I covered my seats with those $18 pseudo-wetsuit seat cover from Costco and now I no longer have to complain about my seat. The form of the seats are actually comfortable. I have realized that after putting on some seat covers. For all you clothed Solaras, try seat covers.

Leather is also a more expensive option so maybe they add more padding. Either way, the leather seems to be more confortable

I know this is a very old thread, but I have a question pertaining to it.

How does the lumbar work? I mean, I have a single position lever on the side of my seat. When I move it, it feels like something inside the seat is moving, but I'm not sure if its in a good way.
What is actually happening inside of the seat? Its not an air bladder being filled, is it? And if I move the lever and hold it too long, will I break something? (overfill a bladder)?
Just curious. Thanks for any insight.

to answer that and a couple more ?'s on this old thread

-i believe it has like 2 or 3 pushes to get it to max then the next push returns it home.

-if your driving for any length of time your gonna get uncomfortable regardless of what you sit in.

-sitting unevenly (one leg propped up) hurts the back also for any length of time. Use the the dead pedal on the left. not the most comfortable position but good for the back when accompanied with the lumbar and optimum seat position...now your low ridin..

I'm not sure how the lumbar support actually works (bladder vs. some type of mechanism), but mine is power and when you hold it down and it reaches the max, it just stops. I don't think there is a way you can break it, unless you have a manual knob and you force the knob too far and break that.

Ok. Since it moves in one direction with the lever, how do I get it to go back to its original position? Or does it move and stay with the lever? Like if the lever is forward, lumbar is fully expanded and when lever is returned to upright position, lumbar is collapsed.
