hmmm good point on the power/window weight adders. I was only thinking of 1 door vs a door on the solara since the solaras longer door needs a longer heavier side impact beam. No, the XLE I have does not come with side airbags and it doesnt even have the chip in the ignition like the solaras do. Hmmm... still wondering where all the added weight comes from esp since the solara looks to be lighter.

Maybe just a quick surf on one of the car magazine sites or maybe edmunds or something would shed some light on the weight topic. Actually I'd rather have a 99 Solara 5-spd in white with a carbon fiber hood....hmmmm
