if you have a DC volt meter
you can test the battery yourself
without starting the engine, measure the voltage on the battery first, should be around 12.6 V or higher, and then you can start the engine, and measure the battery terminal again, with engine running, the voltage should be around 14.1 V or higher when charging, unless you've modified the electrical wiring in the car by adding amp, etc, the alternator should last as long as the life of the car, but i could be wrong.

Hey man......A similiar thing happened to me yesterday too...Driving on the 95 the lights dimmed out then flickered.....So I pulled the car over the shoulder....I couldnt figure out what it was till I noticed that on the connecter on the battery terminal...the screw in the mount had broke off on the second connector......Rigged it then went home...Check all the terminals and connectors......maybe you'll get lucky and just find a broken line.....Peace...
