I dont get wheel hop at all and I have 235/40/18 Nitto, with a S/C. Must be a hard tread tire. It didnt do it with my stock Michelins either. I have an Auto but I dont think that would make a difference.

It's more so with a manual, especially if you are trying to launch higher than 2k rpm and you are not feathering the clutch.

flipside i completely agree with you. i've been tryin to figure out how to get rid of that damn wheel hop when i had my stock v6 at the tracks. now i got the s/c and i'm even more worried bout the wheel hop. i've heard, like u said, that learning how to feather the clutch will solve all the problems.

Now for questions. N e tips on how to feather correctly to recieve the best performance? how high should i rev while tryin to feather the clutch?

Nobody can teach you how to feather the clutch or the throttle that comes with feel, the more you practice the more you can control wheel spin (wheel hop). Boy its fun to spin tires!

It's not fun when you have to shell out more money to replace your tires, and replace your engine mounts.

I've never really noticed much of a problem with wheel hop, even when I've launched the car at a drag strip. I'm not sure if it's because it's not happening, or if I'm just so used to it that it's become unnoticeable.

I seem to be having some problem with my motor mounts, so maybe wheel hop really has been a problem and I didn't even know it. :)

Ryan, have you ever had a problem with motor mounts, or been in a car that has that problem? If so, what did it sound like?

Yes I have. Creaking sounds when you press the gas...or especially when you are on an inclined driveway on a stop...then you accelerate and stop again.

Hmmmm... that sounds a bit like the sounds I'm getting, although I also get clicking and popping sounds. This happens when I accelerate from a stop or from low speeds, and can sometimes be noticed when I brake at slow speeds. At first I thought it was the struts, but after removing and inspecting them, I think they are OK. A mechanic suggested the motor mounts. It also sounds like the type of symptom that suggests problems with the inner CV joints.

i know firmer engine mounts will help wheel hop, but im not sure of the configuration used in our cars. if they are rubber mounts and not hydraulic, there should be holes where you can pipe in some sort of epoxy. correct me if im wrong.

getting new wheels and tires helped wheel hop a little for me.
