Keyless entry

How much does it cost for the new door assembly? It seems like I'm having the same problem as you...except the lights flash normally when the keyless entry attempts to work. Do you know how much the new door assembly and labor would be for those of us who don't work at a dealership? Or is it something I could do myself?

That sounds great, Adam2562, thanks for offering to do that. Let me check up on it first and make sure that's what I need to have done and that it's not something else. I get my car back next thursday from the shop so I should know what I need to do by maybe next weekend if I decide to go ahead and do it. Can I just contact you when I end up finding out? thanks-

Hi Adam,

I have a 2000 SLE that I need instructions for programming the keyless remotes. Can you help me out with a copy of the sevice manual pages that cover the procedure. Seems this info is a well guarded secret. Go figure. For the price I paid for this car I was willing to take it AS IS, which meant " we lost the remotes". Any help will be appreciated.

I've had a similar problem on the driver's side door for several months now. The door would not lock or unlock but the passenger side still worked. However, the lights would still flash when attempting to unlock and I could hear the lock mechanism working. One interesting thing is that when I tried to lock the car it would attempt locking the door 4 times, with each attempt about 3 seconds apart.

I took it into my Toyota dealer and they said the door lock actuator shorted out. The parts were $85 and labor $50. I recently purchased the car after leasing it in '99 and got a new 36 month/100k mile waranty and this was covered under it. Thank goodness...

Just a shot in the dark here, but it sounds to me like the solenoid for the lock is shot. What your probably hearing is the servo attempting to activate a faulty motor. It would make sense for the drivers side to where out before the passenger, as it is used more often. However, if the power locks inside the car actuate the lock, that can't be the case. If that is the case, you can attribute it to gremlins :evilbat:
