If its not the IAC, it might be the ect Engine coolant temperature sensor. For some reason that goes out as well. Its something worth checking. I had a very similar problem to yours when I had my 3rd gen camry.

Good Luck, I hope its nothing major.

If you jump start the car and it stays running fine while hooked up, then it may be the alternator. I agree on the IAC. If this is the situation, then jump starting it will have no effect.

That sensor next to the airbox isnt the iac valve, thats probably the mass air flow sensor. I wish i could take pics and show you exactly where the iac is.

You should also check to make sure that your electrical system is properly grounded. Over time the ground could become dirty and corroded thus not making good contact. When this happens it may look like other various problems. The cheapest thing to do is check this first and if the ground looks dirty take it off and clean it up so you have a good connection. Even if this doesn't solve your problem you covered one of the bases and it won't cost you anything. Good luck.

EGR valve? Car stalling at lights, etc. usually EGR valve, don't know if you would get a CEL if only a little messed up. I think you can try to clean it out. No cold idle usually IAC valve, at least in my case. Cleaned IAC out with sensor safe TB cleaner in place and lubed it with a very little silicon spray, cycled it open and closed, good as new.

HEY!!! I had the same Fing problem... I was driving up the freeway when all of a sudden my car died. It started but only with the push of my gas all the way down... It turned out that the gas line got clogged by carbon build up or something like that... maybe thats your situation as well.
