Odometer change

Postby DaveMush » Wed Jan 18, 2006 3:35 pm

In the 1mz V6 equipped cars, The odometer should be digital. I know that the digital odometer communicates to the engine ECU, but I don't know if the ECU stores the info or if the odometer does.

for a mechanical odometer, it is possible to change the reading to match that of the old odometer. I've done it.

keep in mind smog checks record your last odometer reading

so when you buy a car and see its physical odometer in the car, then go home and check on carfax to see that the last odometer was higher, youll know the seller fukked around with the odometers

carfax has saved me from odometer fraud twice! Idiots don't realize every time you get your car inspected the mileage is recorded. Its even recorded at some service stations when you get your oil changed or other maintenance. You should have seen the look on the dealers face when I dropped the carfax report on his desk!!! LOL!

For sure, shady people ruin lives and take money.

I was thinking of switching my dash with my parent's Camry but since there's that problem of mileage I've decided not to... there goes my white needles..
