Good news! The shop I took it to had a satisfaction guarantee, so they continued to work on it this week. I mentioned what was said here, about the EGR sensor, and sure enough, they found that the EGR position sensor was acting odd, but not odd enough to throw a code.
It apparently was putting out a voltage spike, which was causing it to try to run lean....They replaced the sensor, and now my car is running like new!!! I just got the car back yesterday, and couldn't be happier. Plus they didn't charge me anything else for the extra work!
Thanks to this board, and thanks to the shop for continuing to look for the problem.
