It should be on Toyota's "dime", especially if the miles are low. There was a class action suit against Toyota and the 1MZ is included. The warranty was extended to 8 years for sludge related issues. Your car's symptoms also fall in line with symptoms of sludge, oil consumption and smoking.

Anyways, good to hear they are taking care of it!

i was aware of the warenty months ago but the dealer would not honor it- i dont know why they do all of a sudden
