typically $2000-$3000
not worth it in my opinion, you are better off in selling your car
Why so much negativity with you?? I'm pretty sure thats wht you herd when you wanted to turbo your i4... "What??? Turbo i4 Solara?? Sorry!!"
Anyway your price range is about right with labor and parts, 50-70% off that if you do it yourself...

ok let's say if he throws in the $2000 to modify the tranny, it will not add any value at all. he, as the owner, of course will enjoy it but it is not a smart way to spend his money. Since he has a low mileage SLE, i am sure he will able to get a good value on the car and he could just buy a SE V6 solara 5MT. with the excess money left the from the difference between SLE and SE, he could use the money to add more modification if he likes. another example is if someone spend $1000 to modify his SE with a autoclimate control from SLE, do you think the person will able to recovery any cost from this modification?
yes when i attempt to turbo my i4 solara, most of my friends tried to stop me. my brother's buddy works in XS engineering even refused to do it for me because he thinks it is not a good decision. i did it anyway, it was fun and i learned alot of knowledge about cars. but l learned it is not a smart way to spend the money since my wallet got smaller and i gain more financial sense from my schooling. i had a wasteful behavior a while back because i often had opportunities to earn some easy money, but now i do not have that kind of opportunity anymore. I did not take any money from my parent to modify the car either.
overall the lesson i learned is that If you have money and decided to do something crazy, that is cool. But if you do not have money and decided to do something crazy, that is fool. However, if that is something you really care about, it is passionate.
