I believe there is an "access/kill two birds with one stone" logic to doing it when the timing belt is changed... I don't believe they can be expected to last until a SECOND timing belt change. (I changed my '84 Supra Timing belt ONCE, but had to replace the pump TWICE.... I suspect the first replacement REMAN. was not as durable as the Toyota original...)

Alright, I just scheduled an appointment to have my timing belt changed next Friday (payday). I scheduled it online. They don't post prices, so I asked for an estimate. This is what I got:
$829.95 + Tax
This includes:
Timing belt
Water pump
Drive belts
Coolant flush
all parts and labor.
Does this seem unusually high to anybody? Am I being played for a sucker? Should the mechanic at this dealer be wearing a ski mask?

Damn preventative maintenace.

Maybe it depends on the area. Seems like you guys in Cali and Texas tend to pay more for stuff in general.
