not to "rain in your parade" man ,but if you are going to go through all of that, you should just buy a freakin corvette and save yourself the hassle! seriously!!!! personally i would never want a toyota with chevy engine in it!!! opinions are like noses though :)

Not to rain on your parade, but this below was IMO, 'THE' best advise here...

hey goose, sorry to be off topic, my buddy and i were working on his 2000 c5 vette last night. there is a capartment under teh car by the mufflers. we took off the mufflers so the pipes just hang towards the side. is it ok to drive like that? would he lose any power? also is that plastic good enough to withhold the heat from the pipes? it used to be held lower b/c the mufflers were on but since we took them off the right side is touching but the left isnt. Thanks!

You could probably find a used corvette with some milage on it for 20k. Or buy a 98-02 f-body or GTO for that money. Those all have LS1's. You can get one for 20k or less and then have extra cash for other mods for it. But I agree with phreakedout and Binks.

i'll be the first to say not worth it.
just with that money n buy a used vette.
where many hate, few will love,
But for those who love,
they'll see what it's like to live.

Like it has already been said... But a corvette is a corvette there is nothing original about a corvette but an LS in a solara hasnt been done and rwd solara has not been done so it would be the first for both of those. I understand that this could easilly turn into a money pit of doom. but if that happens i would just part it out completely and put the LS in my 240 or just put the money into my hachi. It isnt for sure....yet. Its an idea. If business stays the way it is right now i wont have time. I will let you all know what the deal is. Im just trying to get opinions right now so keep them coming.
Thanks Alot Guys

Don't make me bust out the Swanson's again. LOL Seriously, I trust that guy you're talking about has what it takes to do it. I say go for it. Yeah, you could buy a c5 instead like everyone here is suggesting but why? Screw it, turn that Solara into a torque monster F-R drift car.

What sort of work will the Solara frame and suspension require to handle that sort of stress?

I wouldn't. I'd rather use that for a down payment on a house or put it in something else that will build interest/equity, not a depreciation pit like a car.
