Agreed. Repairs under the hood will just be less expensive if it actually does snap, but its no more safe since either way, the same thing happens...your car suddenly cant accelerate anymore, hopefully not leaving you between two SUVs on the middle lane of the freeway during rush hour with an extra dead pedal.
