while I'm glad you, and everyone else around you, are okay: You really need to keep a better eye on your tires. Not only were those tires worn past recommended limits, but you had to do something to put that flat spot on that tire.

I know many of us drive our cars pretty hard, and do do that with any degree of safety you have to have a properly maintained vehicle.
Those tires were worn out 1,000 miles ago, or more.
